Why did Kevin Nolan get booed recently?

He's got a bit of stick off the fans, if you look on the forums in the last year or two, he's lost his way a little bit, because it was all Nolan for England at one stage. But he seems rejuvenated and he seems to be scoring goals again and he seems passionate about it, so it's nice to have him back to that form.

 

Do you think he'll ever get that long-awaited England cap then?

I don't think so, I don't think he's quite good enough and I also think there's just too much competition and quality in that position.

 

Where do Bolton need to strengthen this January then?

I think we just need to strengthen up midfield, I think we need another box-to-box midfielder, but I don't know who's available. Everytime you look at Football Spy in the Mirror it'll have "Bolton are after suchabody from Hadjak Split," what? And "the Slovakian full back from Nantes." Oh aye, he'd be a good buy?!

 

What about Anelka's departure?

It was inevitable really. I was surprised when he came. He's a Rolls Royce, he's different class. He really is a world class player. The trouble is he thinks world class as well, sometimes he makes the runs and doesn't get the ball, or he plays the ball and there's nobody there. But when he's on the ball on the edge of the box, or it's a one-on-one, it's a really nice thing to have where you know he's probably going to score. He's got a sixth gear above everybody else.

 

Anelka, Okocha, Djorkaef and Campo. Bolton fans have seen a few world class players recently...

 

People forget we had Hierro for a season here too. What a player! To go down and see these guys, when Okocha was on his game, that was worth your money to get in anyway to see him. Taking the Mickey and all his little flicks. Djorkaef when he was playing well, brilliant midfield player, but Hierro at the back, just strolling about making it look that easy. Sam did attract that sort of player >>>>
