I’m sure Adrian thought it was the guy’s in the studio winding him up, he didn’t think it really was him. But good on Carra for ringing up and standing up for himself.

 

Hows your brother Paul enjoying playing for Houston?

I spoke to him yesterday. He injured his ankle so he probably won’t play too much of a part in the play-offs, but he loves it out there. They won the league last year. And by the way it\s Houston Dynamo, singular, not Dynamos.

 

So they’re better than ‘the Galaxy’. How did he take Beckham’s arrival?

I think he went in and re-negotiated his wages! No he didn’t but I was chatting to him and a couple of his team mates and they were giggling about him going over saying that it was great but it won’t make very much difference. They had decent crowds anyway as they have quite a lot of Latin people there with Mexican and South American parentage so they had a good fan base to start with.

 

Any plans for more BT ads?

No! I don’t think so. I do spend enough time on the phone though! We had quite a laugh, my mum was supposed to do it with my dad, but she said she didn’t want to so she put me forward!

 

What did you make of the Women’s World Cup?

The football is decent and it’s definitely getting better with some really talented players, but the goalkeeping is just odd, I don’t know why that is, whether women don’t want to be goalkeepers or whatever, but they just seem really static. The skill levels were all there but the goalkeeping really let it down, but that’ll come. It’s still quite a new sport especially in this country.

 

If you could present any show on TV what would it be?

I’d like to do This Morning, I really would. But I’m not gonna knock Fern because she’s brilliant.

 

Who would you present with then?

Phillip! I could maybe go in on the Friday when Fern goes off to see her kids! But until you’ve had kids and a bit of life experience you can’t really go on and do it because they like you to be able to say “oh yeah, pain of childbirth,” and “bringing them up is terrible!”
